When I was fresh out of Whitieria New Zealand in 2009 with my Marketing degree. Those were the days - young, naive, and ready to take on the world of marketing. Little did I know just how quickly I'd get jaded and sarcastic about the whole thing.

In all seriousness though, I've been in the marketing game for almost 10 years now, mostly on the paid ads and social media side of things. But along the way, I decided to teach myself some web dev skills too. There's something really satisfying about being able to build stuff myself instead of relying on other people's tools and platforms.

That's ultimately why I created this site - as a little playground to keep expanding my coding abilities while also putting together some handy tools for my own marketing needs. It's an ever-evolving labor of love, and I'm the first to admit it's far from perfect. But I've got big plans to keep making it better and more useful over time.

What's Next on the Roadmap

Speaking of big plans, here's a little peek behind the curtain at what I'm hoping to tackle next:

  1. Trending News and Analysis - Because every marketer needs to stay on top of the latest buzz. I'm envisioning compiling news lists around popular topics and adding my own hot takes for funsies.
  2. Internationalization - This site is currently giving very American-centric vibes. To fix that, I want to add translations into other languages like Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Diversity and inclusion, baby!
  3. OCR Integration - Optical character recognition tools could come in clutch for extracting text from images/documents and stuff. Seems handy to build that in.
  4. App Promotion Services - Maybe I'll finally put my money where my mouth is and start offering legit app marketing services through the site. Could be a nice hustle.
  5. Android App Dev - While I'm on an app kick, I should probably learn how to actually build Android apps in the first place. My app development skills currently consist of changing icons in React Native.

So yeah, lots of ambitious ideas as usual! Who knows how many will actually make it to reality. But one thing's for sure - this site is my continual project for avoiding burnout and keeping my skills fresh. It's the marketing version of yoga, minus the lululemon pants and green juice. Just a marketer trying to stay zen, one piece of code at a time.
