7 entriesAn XML sitemap is a file that lists a website's essential pages, making sure Google and other search engines can find and crawl them all. It also helps search engines understand your website structure.
A Sitemap Index is a file that contains links to other sitemaps. Large websites often use indexes to stay under the 50,000 URL limit per sitemap file.
SEO practitioners extract URLs to perform content audits, check for broken links, verify redirection paths in bulk, or compare indexed pages against scheduled migrations.
No. The sitemap URL you submit is requested by our server, because a browser cannot read another site directly. The parsing and the CSV are then produced in your browser. Nothing is stored.
We measure the 'Time to First Byte' (TTFB) plus header download time. The timer starts when our server initiates the request and stops when the HTTP headers are received. This excludes content download time, giving you a precise measure of server latency.
Fast response times are critical for both User Experience and SEO. Google recommends a server response time of under 200ms. Slow servers frustrate users and can waste your 'Crawl Budget,' leading to fewer indexed pages.
Under 200ms: excellent, and the figure Google recommends. 200ms to 500ms: good, acceptable. Over 500ms: needs improvement. Over 1s: critical, with a high risk of users dropping off.
